What We Do

The ISKCON Child Protection Office of North America is available for guidance in responding to child abuse concerns relating to ISKCON centers in the United States and Canada. Education is a big part of ending abuse. This office offers abuse prevention and awareness training for all ages. We offer screening services to help management make educated choices about who resides in ISKCON centers, volunteers with or is employed by ISKCON . We assist individual communities with the organization and maintenance of Child Protection Teams. If you have any questions or concerns about child abuse, would like to schedule an educational presentation for your community or want to assist with child protection in ISKCON please contact us.

"These children are given to us by Krishna, they are Vaisnavas and we must be very careful to protect them. These are not ordinary children, they are Vaikuntha children, and we are very fortunate we can give them chance to advance further in Krishna Consciousness. That is very great responsibility, do not neglect it or be confused. Your duty is very clear. Hoping this will meet you in good health. Your ever well-wisher, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami."
Srila Prabhupada Letter to: Arundhati Amsterdam 30 July, 1972
Please also take care of the children. They are our future hopes...
Srila Prabhupada letter to Hayagriva London 7 November, 1969
The protection of children gives the human form of life its best chance to prepare the way of liberty from material bondage.

We Offer

  • Invite us to make a presentation to your community. Raise awareness by leaning more about child abuse, how it happens and how to reduce the risk.  By opening this important dialog we can decrease child abuse and increase child protection. We offer Safe Touch programs for children that are engaging, age appropriate and empower children to identify unsafe situations they may face and learn what to do. We are also available to speak with teachers/ parents/ management.
  • We offer guidance and resources to local Child Protection Teams in North America. A Child Protection Team (CPT) is a group of persons reasonably knowledgeable to whom you can report any concerns you may have of child abuse past or present. The CPT works under the mission of the ISKCON Central Child Protection Office, to help protect children from abuse and neglect. By doing so, the future of the Movement is strengthened- the children; while providing an example to the world of a spiritual society that practices compassionate caring and protection. Find out who the CPT is at your temple or center.
  • The Child Protection Office of North America is working to implement ISKCON law regarding screening: All ISKCON leaders (GBCs, gurus, temple presidents, project directors and managers, etc...) are obliged to follow the guidelines for screening those who live on ISKCON property and serve with our temples, schools, farms, and other projects.     To assist temple management in this process, we offer a criminal background check service as well as CPO screening. Making informed decisions about who lives on ISKCON property, works with and serves at out centers reduces risk for the future.
